I agree – don’t follow popular trends – those can be expensive and unnecessary. I think the important thing to do is find a good quality food that agrees w/ your pet (and vice versa) and then stick with it. Grain free is probably more important in cats because they are true carnivores.
Cats prefer privacy in the litter box. Is your cat using his/her litter box? If not – ask your veterinarian for help. Make sure that there is not a medical problem going on – often cats will quit using there box with medical problems.
